Transcarpathian Businessman in New York Receives Hungarian Honor for Strengthening Hungary-Ukraine Relations

Hungarian State Award Presented to Sándor Róth for Strengthening Hungarian-Ukrainian Relations
Transcarpathian native Sándor Róth, a US businessman, has been honored with the Hungarian Order of Merit, Commander’s Cross with distinction, for his significant efforts in fostering Hungarian-Ukrainian ties. The award was presented by Levente Magyar, the parliamentary state secretary of the foreign ministry, during a ceremony held on Sunday.
In his recognition speech, Estado Secretary Magyar commended Róth for his long-standing commitment to enhancing diplomatic relations between Hungary and Ukraine. As a businessman from Transcarpathia, Róth has played a crucial role in promoting economic, social, and cultural connections between the two nations.
Róth’s contributions extend beyond diplomacy; he has actively participated in humanitarian efforts, providing assistance to Transcarpathian Hungarians since the onset of the war in Ukraine. He has also supported the burgeoning Ukrainian community in Hungary, further solidifying his status as a bridge-builder between the peoples of both countries.
Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the award, Róth highlighted the honor of having his work recognized by the Hungarian government, particularly in the interests of Transcarpathian Hungarians and Jews. However, he lamented that many in these communities "are still not getting what they are due" and expressed hope for a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict, looking forward to a future of peaceful coexistence.
With this accolade, Róth stands as a prime example of individual efforts contributing to broader diplomatic relations and communal support in a complex geopolitical landscape.
