Transitioning to underground power lines in Bishkek for enhanced safety and functionality.

Bishkek plans to replace overhead power lines with underground cables

In an effort to increase the reliability of power supply and reduce accidents, the Ministry of Energy in Bishkek has announced plans to replace overhead power lines with underground cables in the capital city.

Minister Taalaibek Ibraev recently met with Orkhan Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, to discuss cooperation in the energy sector. The talks included the supply of cable joints and equipment for the construction of 110 kV and 35 kV underground power lines in Bishkek.

With the city’s population growth and urban expansion, the existing overhead power lines pose potential risks. By replacing them with underground cables, the project aims to enhance the safety and reliability of the power supply in Bishkek.

Azerbaijan has shown interest in supplying the necessary equipment and participating in the project, as noted by the Ministry of Energy. This collaboration is expected to modernize the city’s power infrastructure and contribute to a more secure and efficient energy system.
