Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport Issues Warning Over Permit Misuse
The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan has issued a stern warning to freight carriers regarding the misuse of transport permits along the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan route. This warning aims to emphasize the importance of compliance with established regulations, as violators may face significant restrictions in obtaining new permits.
In a recent statement directed at managers of international freight transport companies, the Ministry underscored the necessity of strictly adhering to the rules governing multilateral transport permits. These permits are specifically designated for cargo movement through the primary checkpoints on the designated route: Tashkent — Andijan — Osh — Irkeshtam — Kashgar and vice versa. The permits were introduced as part of efforts to enhance the transport corridor connecting the three countries.
However, the Ministry has observed a troubling trend of permit misuse. Reports indicate an increasing number of cases where certain transporters are utilizing these permits exclusively for shipments between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, circumventing the complete route. Such actions are in direct violation of the regulations set forth for permit usage.
In light of this misuse, the Ministry has communicated that permits employed for unauthorized purposes will be considered invalid. Furthermore, carriers engaging in such practices may find their future applications for permits significantly restricted.
The Ministry of Transport’s proactive stance aims to uphold the integrity of the transport corridor and ensure that all carriers adhere to regulations intended for the smooth operation of international freight transport in the region.
