Bishkek – 08 August 2024, 17:19
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has issued a warning advising citizens of Kyrgyzstan to avoid traveling to certain cities in the United Kingdom. The recommendation comes in light of the recent unrest and escalating situation in various regions of the UK.
Specifically, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in the UK advised citizens to temporarily refrain from visiting cities such as Rotherham, Bolton, Blackpool, Hull, Bristol, Stoke-on-Trent, Belfast, as well as the suburbs of Manchester and Liverpool until the situation stabilizes. For Kyrgyz nationals currently in these areas, the Embassy urges heightened vigilance, adherence to security protocols, and avoidance of crowded places.
In response to recent events, the Embassy has provided an emergency contact number for assistance, reachable via WhatsApp at +44 7341 185777.
The unrest in the UK was sparked by riots in Southport near Liverpool following the tragic murder of three girls at a children’s dance club. The demonstrations quickly spread to other cities across Britain, prompting calls from political leaders for increased security measures and potential deployment of troops to restore order in affected areas.
As the situation continues to evolve, citizens are advised to stay informed on the latest developments and exercise caution while traveling in the UK. The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide further updates as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of Kyrgyz nationals abroad.
