
Tribute to Magtymguly Fragi in Morocco

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) hosted a series of events in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi in Rabat, Morocco. The delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova, participated in these celebrations on 18 December 2024.
The events, organized by the Government of Turkmenistan in collaboration with ICESCO and the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), aimed to highlight the legacy of Magtymguly Fragi and promote cultural diplomacy among nations.
During the visit, M. Byashimova met with Dr. Salim Bin Mohammed AlMalik, Director General of ICESCO, to discuss opportunities for further cooperation in cultural exchange. The day continued with an exhibition showcasing Turkmen arts and crafts, followed by the opening of a scientific-practical conference on the life and works of Magtymguly Fragi.
Dr. AlMalik and Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of Magtymguly Fragi’s works in bridging cultures and promoting shared values among countries. Representatives from Turkmenistan and other countries presented their research on the poet’s impact on humanity and the Islamic world.
Deputy Minister Byashimova expressed gratitude for the high-level organization of the event and reiterated the global significance of honoring Magtymguly Fragi. The conference featured speeches from various experts, highlighting the educational value of the poet’s works and their role in promoting peace and unity.
The day concluded with a gala concert featuring artists from the Turkic world, further celebrating the rich cultural heritage inspired by Magtymguly Fragi. The event served as a platform for promoting the poet’s legacy on an international stage and fostering cultural exchange among nations.
