Truck collides with police vehicle in Konya: 1 killed, 2 injured
A tragic accident occurred in Konya when a police vehicle was hit by a TIR truck, resulting in one martyr and two injured police officers. The incident took place in the central Karatay district at the Tatlıcak neighborhood Saadet Caddesi-Okyar Street junction. The police team’s patrol vehicle was hit from behind, causing the unfortunate loss of a police officer and leaving two others injured.
According to a statement from the Governorate of Konya, the injured police officers were promptly taken to the city hospital for treatment after the accident. The Governor expressed condolences for the martyr and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured officers.
The identity of the police officers involved in the accident has been revealed. Police officer Onur Sirin tragically lost his life, while police officers Hüseyin Sağlam and Oğuz Demirkır sustained serious injuries.
Authorities including Konya Governor Ibrahim Akin, Provincial Police Chief Maksut Yuki, Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay, and Chief Public Prosecutor Halil Inal visited the injured police officers at Konya City Hospital. They were briefed on the health status of Hüseyin Sağlam and Oğuz Demirkır.
