Trump administration threatens to revoke Harvard University’s ability to enroll international students

The US Department of Homeland Security has taken action against Harvard University, threatening to revoke its ability to enroll foreign students if the institution does not comply with demands to share information on visa holders. This move represents the latest escalation from the Trump administration towards the prestigious educational institution.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the termination of two DHS grants totaling over $2.7 million to Harvard. Noem specified that Harvard must provide records on the activities of its foreign student visa holders, which she described as “illegal and violent,” by April 30. Failure to do so may result in Harvard losing the privilege of enrolling foreign students.
In response, a Harvard spokesperson acknowledged the letter from Noem regarding grant cancellations and visa scrutiny. The university reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining independence and constitutional rights while stating that it will comply with the law.
This development highlights the increasing tension between Harvard University and the US government over the issue of foreign student visas. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing situation.
