Trump agrees to arm Ukraine with US weapons through European intermediary
The Washington administration has announced that European countries will be allowed to purchase weapons and other products from the US military-industrial complex for Ukraine. This decision was confirmed by US President Donald Trump during a statement to the White House press pool, as reported by TASS.
When asked if he would authorize such transactions, President Trump responded affirmatively, stating, “Yes, I would [do that].” This move comes as US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized during a recent meeting in Brussels that the majority of lethal and non-lethal assistance to Kyiv in the future should be provided by European countries, rather than the United States.
This development marks a shift in policy towards arming Ukraine, with European allies taking on a more significant role in supporting the nation’s defense capabilities. It is seen as a strategic move to enhance Ukraine’s security and deter external threats in the region.
