Trump’s plan to end the war in Ukraine to be presented at Munich Security Conference
Bishkek – On February 6th, 2025, the 24.kg news agency reported that U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to end the three-year war in Ukraine could be presented at the upcoming Munich Security Conference, scheduled from February 14th to February 16th. The US leader’s Special Envoy Keith Kellogg announced his participation in the conference and expressed his eagerness to discuss President Trump’s goal of ending the bloody and costly war in Ukraine.
Reports suggest that the plan includes a freeze of the conflict and security guarantees for Ukraine, with the territories under Russian control having an undefined status. However, there seems to be a lack of consensus within the U.S. president’s team on whom to put pressure on – Moscow or Kyiv. While some members, like Special Envoy Keith Kellogg and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, advocate for pressuring Russia to stop its advance on the front, others propose reducing military aid to Kyiv as a means to hasten conflict resolution.
Shortly after taking office, President Trump directed his Special Envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, to end the war within one hundred days. However, the new U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has indicated that negotiations may be challenging, and he cannot set a specific timeframe for ending the conflict.
As preparations for the Munich Security Conference continue, stakeholders anticipate further clarity on the proposed plan to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
