Trump Urges Americans Not to Panic After Markets Plunge for Third Day

President Trump urged Americans to display strength, courage, and patience in the face of his tariff measures, as markets continued to plummet. In a message posted on Truth Social, the president called on citizens to not succumb to panic and emphasized the need for resilience.
Despite Trump’s words of encouragement, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 both experienced significant declines in the first half-hour of trading. The Nasdaq also saw a drop of 1.65% by 10 a.m.
There was a momentary uptick in market performance following rumors of a potential 90-day pause on tariff implementations, but this optimism was short-lived as the White House denied any such plans. The recent market downturn follows a sharp decline last week, during which trillions of dollars were wiped off the stock market.
Trump reaffirmed his commitment to his tariff policies, including a minimum 10% base tariff and reciprocal tariffs. However, he indicated willingness to negotiate with certain countries to reduce levies. This marks the first time the president has directly addressed the public in response to the recent market turbulence, urging Americans to remain steadfast in the face of economic uncertainties.
