TULM Organizes First Container Train from Uzbekistan to Brazil

The Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM) achieved a remarkable milestone in the field of international transport logistics by launching the first container train from Uzbekistan to Brazil. The departure, which occurred on Wednesday, December 11, saw a cargo of urea being loaded at the Tashkent First Dry Port Terminal.

Comprising 54 forty-foot containers, each carrying 28 tons of fertilizer, this initiative underscores Turkmenistan’s increasing importance as a pivotal transit point on the Eurasian continent. Furthermore, it creates fresh avenues for trade between Central Asia and South America.

The train’s route encompasses the port of Turkmenbashi, followed by a feeder route through Azerbaijan and Georgia. Upon reaching the port of Poti in Georgia, the containers will be transferred onto a ship bound for the Brazilian port of Paranagua.

It is estimated that the delivery of the cargo will take between 60 to 70 days. The railway journey to the port of Poti is projected to last approximately 20 days, with the sea segment lasting an additional 35-45 days.

This endeavor not only showcases the potential for advancing container transport in the region but also holds the promise of bolstering trade volumes and refining logistics infrastructure.
