Turakurgan Oil Depot Ordered to Refund 3.5 Billion UZS for Diesel Fuel Overcharging

The Competition Committee has taken action against the Turakurgan oil depot, a part of the state company “Uzbekneftegaz,” ordering them to return an overpaid amount of 3.5 billion UZS.
An investigation revealed that the oil depot had been inflating the selling prices of diesel fuel for farming enterprises, with prices set at 5400 UZS per liter. This resulted in unjustified income of 2.75 billion UZS from fuel sales and an additional 826.5 million UZS obtained through inflated prices on direct contracts at the exchange.
A special commission found that the actions of the Turakurgan oil depot violated regulations regarding the sale of monopoly and highly liquid products. As a result, the enterprise was instructed to return the overpaid amount. Despite attempting to appeal the decision in court, the oil depot’s claim was dismissed, and the ruling upheld.
In a related case, the Competition Committee also initiated action against “Navoiazot” for price manipulation of mineral fertilizers. The Tashkent court rejected the appeal by the state enterprise, signaling a strong stance against unfair business practices in Uzbekistan.
