Turkey Business Bank 19th Istanbul Half Marathon Kicks Off
Turkey’s 19th Istanbul Half Marathon, organized by Spor Istanbul, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), has officially begun. This prestigious event, known as one of the top 11 “Gold Label” half marathons in the world, offers both 10 kilometers and 21 kilometers categories for runners to compete in.
Starting from the Yenikapı Rally Area, participants in the half marathon will journey along the coast road, passing through iconic locations such as Kennedy Street, Kumkapı, Cankurtaran, Çatlamışkapı, Sarayburnu, Sirkeci Işıklar, and crossing the Galata Bridge. After a turnaround at the end of the bridge, athletes will head back towards Eminönü, Unkapanı, Cibali, Abdülezelpaşa street, Ayvansaray, and the Haliç Bridge before returning to Yenikapı via the same coastal road.
This year, the event has attracted around 14 thousand athletes from 72 different countries, showcasing the diversity and global appeal of the Istanbul Half Marathon. Among the participants, there are 68 elite athletes – 47 men and 21 women – representing 34 different nations, adding an extra layer of competition and excitement to the race.
