Kocaeli Governorship Takes Action Against Illegal Cockfighting

In a recent statement by the Kocaeli Governorship, it was revealed that a preventive law enforcement patrol was conducted by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command Environment, Nature and Animal Protection Team, along with the Gebze District Gendarmerie Command teams, in accordance with the Animal Protection Law No. 5199.

During the patrol, it was discovered that an individual had organized a cockfight in the district. Upon inspection of the area, it was found that 12 roosters were being fought, with 35 people in attendance who also placed bets on the fights.

As a result of this illegal activity, a total of 224,875 Turkish lira in administrative fines was issued to the 35 individuals involved. Additionally, the 12 roosters were confiscated and subsequently delivered to Darıca Faruk Yalçın Zoo.

This action serves as a clear indication of the Kocaeli Governorship’s commitment to upholding the laws surrounding animal protection and preventing any form of animal cruelty. The enforcement of such laws is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of all animals within the region.

It is important for the public to be aware of these laws and to report any instances of animal cruelty or illegal activities involving animals to the appropriate authorities. By doing so, we can work together to create a safe and humane environment for all living creatures.
