Kocaeli Governorship Takes Action Against Illegal Cockfighting
In a recent statement by the Kocaeli Governorship, it was revealed that a preventive law enforcement patrol was conducted by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command Environment, Nature and Animal Protection Team, along with the Gebze District Gendarmerie Command teams, in accordance with the Animal Protection Law No. 5199.
During the patrol, it was discovered that an individual had organized a cockfight in the district. Upon inspection of the area, it was found that 12 roosters were being fought, with 35 people in attendance who also placed bets on the fights.
As a result of this illegal activity, a total of 224,875 Turkish lira in administrative fines was issued to the 35 individuals involved. Additionally, the 12 roosters were confiscated and subsequently delivered to Darıca Faruk Yalçın Zoo.
