Turkey ranks third in global solar panel production: Minister Dönmez
Energy Minister of Turkey, Fatih Dönmez, recently attended the Central Anatolia Career Fair, organized in partnership with the Presidential Human Resources Office and Anadolu University. Many companies and 19 universities opened stands at the event, which was held at Anadolu University Yunus Emre Campus. Speaking at the fair’s opening, Minister Dönmez proudly announced that Turkey has become one of the leading countries in renewable energy.
Minister Dönmez highlighted that technologies that can convert resources like wind, solar, hydraulic, water, and geothermal into electricity were earlier imported, but these are now domestically produced in Turkey. Further, he revealed that Turkey has achieved a rate of 75 percent in solar energy systems, 60-65 percent in wind and biomass, and 55 percent in geothermal. Recently, Turkey opened Europe’s largest one-piece solar power plant, where over 3 million panels used in the power plant were domestically produced.
Minister Dönmez also addressed the young people attending the fair, explaining that having technology will play a significant role in deciding a country’s future. He urged the youth to work towards technology independence, as it is one of the most important agendas for the future. The minister mentioned that energy technology offers great opportunities in Turkey with the rapidly increasing energy needs and growing economy, and encouraged the youth to consider energy from this perspective.
In addition to Minister Dönmez, other notable personalities who attended the event were Anadolu University Rector Prof. Dr. Fuat Erdal, Head of the Presidential Human Resources Office Assoc. Dr. Salim Atay, Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, Chief Public Prosecutor Ali Yeldan, Provincial Police Chief Yaman Ağırlar, Provincial Gendarmerie Regiment Commander Colonel Ercan Atasoy, and AK Party Provincial Chairman Süleyman Reyhan, along with other university rectors.
