Turkey’s Government Demonstrates Strength and Stability
Former Greek Prime Minister and leader of the New Democracy Party, Kiryakos Mitsotakis, recently appeared on the state channel ERT to discuss the upcoming elections in Greece and the state of relations with Turkey. Mitsotakis emphasized that Turkey should be taken as an example and that the way to achieve this is to change the electoral system in Greece. He also praised the strong and stable government in Turkey, noting that Greece currently has a temporary government due to the election system.
Mitsotakis expressed his positive evaluation of recent improvements in Greek-Turkish relations and reiterated his desire to meet with President Erdogan to determine the roadmap moving forward. He stated that if he becomes Prime Minister again, he will try to hold this meeting at the upcoming NATO Summit in Lithuania in July.
Turning to the issue of immigrants, Mitsotakis stated that he did not believe Turkey was behind the recent increase in illegal immigrant mobility in Meriç. Overall, his comments suggest a desire for improved relations with Turkey and a recognition of Turkey’s stability in contrast to Greece’s current political situation.
