Turkish Airlines Enters Guinness World Records for Most Destinations
Turkish Airlines (THY) has officially been recognized by the Guinness World Records for operating flights to the most countries in the world. Since 2012, THY has held the title of the airline with the most destinations, a feat that has now been immortalized in the Guinness World Records.
After launching its first flight to Santiago, Chile, THY’s CEO, Bilal Ekşi, was presented with the Guinness World Records certificate. The ceremony, attended by representatives from Guinness World Records and THY executives, celebrated this significant achievement.
During the event, Ekşi expressed his excitement about adding Santiago as a new destination for the airline. He highlighted THY’s status as the only airline to hold this record for over a decade, showcasing the extensive reach of its flight network. Ekşi emphasized THY’s commitment to connecting people, cultures, and destinations around the globe.
According to the criteria set by Guinness World Records, Turkish Airlines set the record by operating flights to 120 countries within the past 12 months. With the addition of the flight to Chile on December 19, THY’s network now spans across 131 countries, including temporarily suspended routes.
This milestone solidifies Turkish Airlines’ position as a global leader in air travel, offering connectivity to a diverse range of destinations. The recognition from Guinness World Records serves as a testament to THY’s dedication to expanding its reach and serving passengers worldwide.
