Turkish Airlines to Restart Flights Between Türkiye and Russia on May 9

Resumption of Flights Between Türkiye and Russia Announced
Russian aviation authorities have announced a significant agreement with Turkish Airlines to resume all flights between Türkiye and Russia, effective May 9. This decision was shared by the Federal Air Transport Agency via its official Telegram channel.
The statement clarified that the Transport Ministry, along with the Federal Air Transport Agency and representatives from Turkish Airlines, have successfully coordinated the resumption of the full flight program. Turkish Airlines is also exploring the possibility of adding more flights to its May 9 schedule.
However, this news comes amid some recent disruptions in travel plans. On May 8, Turkish Airlines canceled a total of 20 flights operating from Vnukovo Airport to popular destinations including Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, and Istanbul. Additionally, Pegasus Airlines has also canceled four flights to these cities from the same airport, along with seven flights from St. Petersburg.
According to estimates by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), the wave of cancellations is expected to impact over 15,000 passengers, including those with flights still scheduled but yet to depart.
As travelers eagerly await the reopening of these routes, the collaboration between Turkish Airlines and Russian aviation authorities marks a positive step towards normalizing air travel in the region.
