Turkish Firm Sam Yapi to Open Two Dialysis Clinics in Uzbekistan

Turkish Company to Open Dialysis Clinics in Uzbekistan Under PPP

Sam Yapi Group, a Turkish company, has announced plans to open two dialysis clinics in Uzbekistan under a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement. The estimated cost of the project is set at $10 million, with the clinics to be located in the Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, as confirmed by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health.

The decision to establish these new healthcare facilities followed a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Health, Farhod Tashpulatov, and representatives of Sam Yapi during an international PPP conference held in Istanbul. Sam Yapi Group presented its medical services and expressed interest in setting up hemodialysis centers in Uzbekistan, leading to the signing of a memorandum of cooperation.

This initiative is part of Uzbekistan’s efforts to enhance healthcare services through collaborations with international medical providers. In 2020, the government launched a tender for four dialysis centers under the PPP model, with Indian firm Nephroplus winning the contract. The project, supported by funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to improve dialysis services in the country.

Nephroplus has already opened multiple dialysis centers in Uzbekistan, including a 160-bed facility in Tashkent in August 2023. The company’s goal is to make dialysis more affordable for the Uzbek population by reducing the cost per procedure. This cost-saving measure could potentially save the government around $5 million annually.

The growing interest in healthcare projects underscores Uzbekistan’s commitment to enhancing its medical infrastructure. International companies like Sam Yapi and Nephroplus are expected to play a crucial role in delivering accessible and high-quality healthcare services to the country’s residents.
