Turkish Military: 62 Terrorists Neutralized in Last Week

A recent press briefing at the Ministry of National Defense highlighted the Turkish Armed Forces’ ongoing efforts to combat terrorism. According to the briefing, 62 terrorists were neutralized in the past week, with operations conducted in northern Iraq and Syria. This brings the total number of terrorists neutralized since the beginning of 2024 to 3,226.

The briefing also focused on border security, with 107 individuals caught attempting to illegally cross the borders in the last week. Among those captured was a member of a terrorist organization. Additionally, authorities seized 21,310 grams of drugs during the operations conducted throughout the week.

Regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Rear Admiral Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor of the Ministry of National Defense, praised the agreement reached between Hamas and Israel. He emphasized the need to work towards establishing a sovereign, independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.

Aktürk also emphasized Turkey’s continued support for establishing permanent security in Syria. Efforts to ensure stability, facilitate the return of refugees, and strengthen Syria’s defense and security capacity are ongoing. PKK/PYD/YPG/SDF and DAESH elements in Syria and Iraq are designated as legitimate targets for continued operations.
