Minister Şimşek Begins US Visit for Meetings with Treasury Secretary Yellen and IMF President Georgieva
Minister Şimşek of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance is set to kick off his US meetings today, accompanied by Central Bank President Fatih Karahan, as reported by the AA correspondent. The Minister’s agenda includes official events, investor meetings, and bilateral discussions with various counterparts, with a total of around 50 meetings scheduled during his visit to the USA.
Following the two-day G20 meetings, Minister Şimşek will participate in the World Bank Development Committee meeting. He will have meetings with US Treasury Secretary Yellen, Pakistani Finance Minister Aurangzeb, and other counterparts within the framework of the G20 gatherings.
Furthermore, Minister Şimşek will have encounters with presidents and senior executives of multilateral development banks such as Ajay Banga of the World Bank, Masato Kanda of the Asian Development Bank, Nobumitsu Hayashi of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, Carlo Monticelli of the Council of Europe Development Bank, Muhammad Al Jasser of the Islamic Development Bank, and officials from the International Finance Corporation.
Additionally, Minister Şimşek is scheduled to meet with IMF President Kristalina Georgieva and First Vice President Gita Gopinath. As part of his US engagements, he will also participate in investor meetings and deliver presentations at seminars organized by top investment banks like BBVA, JP Morgan, BoFA, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, and Barclays.
In a noteworthy move, Minister Şimşek will engage with leading think tanks in the country. He will present an in-depth analysis of the Turkish economy at the Hutchins Center, a prominent research institution under the Brookings Institution, and engage with academics and economists closely monitoring Turkey at the Atlantic Council and the International Finance Institute.
