Turkish Premiere of “Captain Benim” Marks Start of Italian Cinema Collaboration
The 14th edition of “Meeting with Italian Cinema” has kicked off with great enthusiasm in Istanbul. Organized by the Italian Cultural Center, this annual event aims to showcase the best of Italian cinema to a Turkish audience. The highlight of this year’s event was the screening of Italy’s Oscar-nominated movie “Captain Benim,” directed by Matteo Garrone.
The week-long festival, which runs from November 27th to December 3rd, features a total of eight films that have left their mark on the international film festival circuit. Moviegoers can watch these films, which represent the latest in Italian film production, in their original language with both Turkish and English subtitles.
The festival will be held at the Theater Hall of the Italian Cultural Center in Beyoğlu, as well as at Sinematek/Cinema House Kadıköy, in partnership with the Kadıköy Municipality. Notably, all screenings at the Casa d’Italia Theater Hall are free of charge and do not require reservations, while tickets for screenings at Sinematek/Cinema Evi Kadıköy can be obtained online or at the box office.
The opening film of the festival, “Captain Benim,” has already been well-received, setting the stage for an exciting lineup of films, including “Heaven,” “I Told You So,” “The Commander,” “Endless Sunday,” “Nowhere,” “Lubo,” and “There is Still Hope.” These films cover a variety of genres and themes, providing a comprehensive look at the diversity of Italian cinema.
