Turkish Stars Preparing for August 30 Victory Day Shows
The Turkish Stars, a renowned aerobatic demonstration team under the Air Forces Command, have been diligently preparing for the upcoming August 30 Victory Day shows. Team Leader Major Hasan Kocabaş recently spoke to an AA correspondent about the intense preparations and emotions that come with performing in front of large crowds.
Despite the high stakes and pressure of putting on a flawless performance, Major Kocabaş revealed that the team remains focused and disciplined during their flights. “We have to monitor many parameters during the flight, such as altitude, speed, and show center. While we may feel excited before taking off, once the flight begins, we are solely focused on doing our job with precision and professionalism,” he explained.
As part of the Victory Day celebrations, the Turkish Stars will conduct a respect flight over Anıtkabir on August 30 at 12:00, followed by a demonstration flight over Lake Mogan later in the day at 18:00. Major Kocabaş extended an invitation to the public to join them at Lake Mogan to witness the thrilling aerobatic displays and celebrate the joy of victory together.
Reflecting on his role as Team Leader, Kocabaş shared the challenges and responsibilities that come with leading the Turkish Stars. “All positions in the Turkish Stars require serious discipline and effort, but being the Team Leader adds an extra level of responsibility as I am accountable for the entire branch. Nevertheless, we work together as a team to deliver the best show possible,” he added.
Major Mehmet Balta, who serves as number 4 in the Turkish Stars, emphasized that all pilots in the 134th Acroteam Fleet Command double as demonstration pilots. He pointed out that their expertise extends beyond aerobatics, as they are also trained to serve in various capacities within the Air Force Command.
In preparation for the August 30 shows, the Turkish Stars recently conducted environmental recognition flights and rehearsals over Lake Mogan. The final demonstrations are scheduled to take place on August 30, starting with a respect flight over Anıtkabir at 12:00, followed by a thrilling performance over Lake Mogan at 18:00.
