Turkey Card Integration Slowly Spreading Across the Country
The integration of the Turkey Card, a public transportation card that can be used in different cities, is steadily progressing across the country. Gülten, a representative from PTT, announced that the implementation of Turkey Card has started and the card is slowly being integrated into all cities.
One of the main advantages of the Turkey Card is that it allows passengers to use public transportation in multiple locations using a single card. However, Gülten pointed out that using credit cards for boarding does not support discounts and transfers, which can be an inconvenience for certain groups such as soldiers, teachers, and disabled citizens who have to purchase new cards when traveling to different provinces.
In an effort to address this issue, agreements have been made with various provinces, including Rize, with plans for the Turkey Card to be valid in Kayseri in the future. This will eliminate the need for citizens to obtain new cards when traveling between provinces and will also have a positive impact on the country’s economy. The goal is to have Turkey Card coverage in more than 50 percent of Turkey by the end of 2024.
Furthermore, municipalities are playing a key role in the spread of the Turkey Card, and negotiations have been initiated with many municipalities. The integration process is expected to be completed within a year with the support of municipalities. Additionally, there are plans to introduce a feature that allows credit cards to be used as Turkey Cards, making the project a unique technology in the world.
It is hoped that the Turkey Card will be widely available throughout the country next year, providing a convenient and efficient public transportation solution for citizens.
