Turkmen Delegation Attends ECOSOC Youth Forum

Representatives from Turkmenistan Engage in UN Youth Forum
Representatives from Turkmenistan actively participated in the Youth Forum of the UN Economic and Social Council, held in a hybrid format at the UN headquarters in New York from April 16 to 18. The theme of this year’s forum was “Building a stronger recovery from COVID-19 while moving towards full implementation of the 2030 Agenda.”
The forum aimed to bring together young people to work towards a more equitable and sustainable future, find solutions to overcome the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerate progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and involve youth in decision-making processes.
Begench Khalnepesov, the head of the international cooperation department of the Central Council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan, and Maral Allaberdyeva, a third-year student at the International University for Humanities and Development, represented Turkmenistan at the forum and actively engaged in discussions.
The 2024 Forum provided a fruitful platform for exchanging ideas and developing solutions. Participants at the forum adopted a statement outlining their recommendations to improve the recovery from COVID-19 and accelerate the achievement of the SDGs.
The UN ECOSOC Youth Forum serves as a global platform for dialogue between states and young leaders worldwide on issues affecting the well-being of youth. The participation of Turkmenistan’s representatives showcases the country’s commitment to engaging in international dialogues and contributing to global initiatives.
