Turkmen Doctors Successfully Implement Pemberton’s Orthopedic Surgery Method
Orthopedic Operation by Pemberton Method Successfully Performed in Turkmenistan
In a significant medical milestone, the first orthopedic operation using the Pemberton method was recently carried out in Turkmenistan. The operation took place at the Scientific and Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health, and the news was reported by the local newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”.
The operation was conducted on a 5-year-old child from the Lebap region, who was suffering from a complex disease of the hip joint. This innovative surgical method was introduced to Turkmen specialists last year by Professor Vincent Frimberger, a German doctor from the Dritter Orden clinic. The German colleagues collaborated with Turkmen experts, sharing their knowledge and successfully implementing the Pemberton method in their medical practice.
It is noteworthy that the young patient is being taken care of by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Helping Children in Need of Guardianship. The foundation provided the necessary surgical instruments to the center in the capital city for the operation.
In addition to this groundbreaking orthopedic operation, the International Cardiology Center’s team of surgeons also carried out 10 heart operations, as well as neurosurgical and orthopedic procedures for children with congenital diseases affecting the musculoskeletal and central nervous systems. One of the youngest patients was 3-month-old Aymelek Maksadova from the Lebap town of Gazochak.
The postoperative condition of all the children is stable, and they are under the care and support of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation. Since 2021, the foundation has sponsored more than 140 medical operations, and an additional 50 children have received medical examinations along with the provision of necessary medications, all free of charge.
This achievement in the field of orthopedic surgery highlights the progress being made in Turkmenistan’s healthcare system. The successful implementation of the Pemberton method, along with the support of charitable organizations, demonstrates the country’s commitment to providing advanced medical care and improving the well-being of its citizens, especially children in need.
