Turkmen President Meets with European Council Chief
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recently met with the chairman of the European Council, Antoniu Koshta, on April 3, 2025. The two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the EU in various areas such as politics, trade, culture, and transportation. He expressed confidence that the meeting would help enhance the partnership between Turkmenistan and the EU.
Both leaders acknowledged the active nature of the political and diplomatic interaction between Turkmenistan and the European Union in recent years. They also highlighted the importance of the recent meeting of foreign policy officials from Central Asia and the EU in Ashgabat, which aimed at building long-term partnerships between the two regions.
President Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s efforts in developing key transport corridors like the North-South and East-West routes, which serve as vital connections to expand cooperation and trade with Eurasian countries.
The President also extended an invitation to the chairman of the European Council to participate in the International Forum of Peace and Trust in Ashgabat, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s constant neutrality.
Both leaders expressed their readiness to further strengthen the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union. The meeting concluded with President Berdimuhamedov and Chairman Koshta exchanging wishes for good health, well-being, and success in their respective activities.
