
Turkmen Weightlifter Takes Home Bronze at Asian Championship

Turkmen Weightlifter, Bunyad Rashidov, Wins Bronze Medal at Asian Championship
Turkmen weightlifter, Bunyad Rashidov, secured a bronze medal at the Asian Championship, held in Jinju, South Korea. Competing in the weight category up to 67 kg, Rashidov won the bronze medal in the snatch with a weight of 140 kg. However, in the clean and jerk exercise, he achieved the fifth result with a weight of 162 kg, placing him in fifth position overall with a total weight of 302 kg.
Despite being satisfied with his bronze medal, Rashidov noted that he could have done better, stating that during his training camp in Georgia, he was able to reach results of 170 kg in clean and jerk and 150 kg in snatch. He expressed his determination to improve his performance in the coming tournaments and win a gold medal next time.
About 400 athletes from 37 countries took part in the Asian Weightlifting Championship, which began on May 5 and will conclude on May 13. The Turkmen side was represented by 16 weightlifters, comprising of nine men and seven women. The continental championship serves as a qualifying tournament leading up to the 2024 Olympic Games.
