
Turkmen Weightlifters Head to Havana for 2024 Olympics Qualifiers

Turkmen Athletes to Participate in Grand Prix of International Weightlifting Federation
Turkmenistan is sending its athletes to compete in the Grand Prix of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), which will begin on June 8th in Havana, Cuba. The Turkmen delegation consists of four people, including three athletes – Gaygysyz Toryaev, Shatlyk Shohradov, and Polina Guryeva, the silver medalist of the 2020 Olympics. The head coach of the national team, Mansur Rejepov, will lead the delegation.
The Grand Prix is one of the stages of Olympic qualification, and over 400 weightlifters from 70 countries will compete for places in the ranking that determines the participants of the 2024 Olympics. Turkmenistan is one of the many countries vying for a spot and is hoping to showcase its athletes’ skills and potential at this prestigious competition.
The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan expressed its confidence in the abilities of the Turkmen delegation and wished them success in the competition. The Grand Prix offers a great opportunity for the athletes to gain valuable experience and improve their skills while representing their country on the international stage.
