Turkmenistan and China Strengthen Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
Turkmenistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to developing a comprehensive strategic partnership during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Liu Bin, held in Ashgabat on January 15, 2025.
The discussions during the meeting covered a wide range of issues related to the bilateral partnership, highlighting the strong and long-term nature of the relationship between the two countries. The high level of trust and friendship between the leaders of Turkmenistan and China has created favorable conditions for further strengthening their interstate relations.
The successful cooperation between the two countries within international and regional structures, particularly within the UN, was acknowledged and appreciated. The importance of the “Central Asia – China” format for interstate dialogue was also emphasized, demonstrating the commitment of both countries to regional cooperation.
Furthermore, the intensification of inter-parliamentary and inter-party ties, as well as the enhancement of inter-regional cooperation, have provided a new impetus to the relationship between Turkmenistan and China. The diplomats discussed the progress of joint activities in various sectors, including trade, economics, energy, transport, communication, and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
Both parties expressed their readiness to continue building on their effective relations, which are in line with the national interests and development priorities of both countries and their peoples. The meeting marked another step towards deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China.
