Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to France Participates in UNESCO General Conference
Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to France, Maksat Charyev, recently attended the fifth extraordinary session of the UNESCO General Conference. The session was initiated by Japan and garnered support from 150 states, including the official Ashgabat, as reported by the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Paris.
The main agenda of the session was centered around discussions regarding the return of the United States as a member state of the organization. On June 12 of this year, the American side conveyed its desire to rejoin UNESCO in a letter submitted to the Director General. During the conference, financing issues were also addressed.
Following the conference, 132 participating states voted in favor of the United States’ return to UNESCO. Media reports suggest that this reintegration should be completed by July 31.
