Celebrating World Hindi Day in Turkmenistan
On January 10, 2025, a special event took place at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages to commemorate World Hindi Day. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan, along with embassy staff, institute officials, teachers, and students.
The rector of the institute, M. Charyev, began the event with a welcoming speech, highlighting the significance of the collaboration between the institute and the Indian Embassy in promoting the study of Hindi language among students.
Madam Ambassador Hazarika Bhagat also addressed the audience, underscoring the importance of celebrating World Hindi Day. She commended the popularity of Hindi in Turkmenistan and praised the proficiency of the institute’s teachers and students in the language.
Students who were studying Hindi at the institute showcased their talents by presenting on the literary connections between Turkmenistan and India, the shared cultures and traditions of their peoples. They recited poems by Magtymguly Fragi and Rabindranath Tagore, as well as performed Indian and Turkmen traditional dances, captivating the audience.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners of an essay and poetry translation competition dedicated to World Hindi Day, followed by the awarding of prizes to the talented students.
The celebration of World Hindi Day at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages was a testament to the strong bond between Turkmenistan and India through the promotion and appreciation of the Hindi language and culture.
