Turkmenistan Consulate General Participates in Kazan Event Celebrating National Spring Holiday “Orient”
The Consulate General of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Kazan) recently participated in the celebrations of the spring holiday of Novruz in Kazan on March 21. The event took place at the Khan’s Court on the territory of the Kazan Hippodrome and was attended by representatives from Turkmenistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Tatarstan.
Chairman of the State Council and Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin, welcomed guests and participants to the festive Maidan on behalf of the Rais of Tatarstan, the parliament, and the Government of the republic. Each participating country showcased their national culture through performances of dances and songs, as well as offering traditional dishes from their cuisine to the guests.
The Turkmen site at the event displayed handmade carpets, national clothing, jewelry, souvenirs, and books by esteemed leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Traditional Turkic dishes, especially pilaf, were a highlight of the celebration. Turkmen students actively participated in competitions such as “Nauruz guzele” and “Nauruz batyry”, with a special prize for the tastiest pilaf prepared at the festival.
“Novruz-2025” was organized by the Assembly of Peoples of the Republic of Tatarstan and the House of Friendship of Peoples of the Republic of Tatarstan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan and the Executive Committee of the city of Kazan. The event showcased the rich cultural diversity and traditions of the participating countries, promoting unity and friendship among different nations.
