Turkmenistan Delegation at the Third Caspian Economic Forum
The delegation of Turkmenistan recently participated in the Third Caspian Economic Forum, which took place in Tehran on February 17-18, 2025. Led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers H. Geldimyradov, the Turkmen delegation engaged in discussions with representatives from other Caspian littoral states on various issues pertaining to regional collaboration and development.
During the forum, six thematic sessions were held, focusing on topics such as trade and economic cooperation in the Caspian region, partnership opportunities in transport infrastructure, energy initiatives, and environmental protection of the Caspian Sea. H. Geldimyradov highlighted the importance of joint logistical centers and platforms, as well as the significance of projects like the North-South transport corridor and the Trans-Caspian international transport route.
The Turkmen delegation also showcased initiatives on sustainable transport connectivity, energy security, and transitioning to a circular economy. Various side events allowed for further discussions among specialized agencies from the Caspian littoral countries, facilitating the exchange of ideas on regional economic development.
Participants at the forum expressed optimism that the agreements made will enhance economic integration in the region and strengthen the Caspian Sea’s role as a vital hub for international trade. The heads of delegations concluded the event by adopting a Joint Communiqué outlining their shared commitments.
In addition to the forum sessions, the Turkmen delegation had the opportunity to meet with President Masoud Pezeshkian and First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref of the Islamic Republic of Iran. These meetings provided a platform for discussing bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between Turkmenistan and Iran.
Overall, the Third Caspian Economic Forum was a productive gathering that underscored the importance of collaboration among Caspian littoral states for the mutual benefit of the region.
