Turkmenistan Delegation Set to Engage in Youth Forum in New York

The Second Meeting of Central Asian Youth Dialogue Initiated by Turkmenistan to Take Place at the United Nations Headquarters

April 16, 2025 — The Second Meeting of Central Asian Youth Dialogue initiated by Turkmenistan is set to take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Turkmenistan, a country known for its policy of neutrality which has fostered international rapprochement and constructive cooperation, is hosting this high-level session within the framework of the ECOSOC Youth Forum.

Scheduled to coincide with the International Year of Peace and Trust declared by the UN, as well as the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, this forum will emphasize the important role of youth in strengthening peace, preventing conflict, and promoting inclusive development.

The Central Asian Youth Dialogue, launched by Turkmenistan in 2023, has already proven its effectiveness and relevance. It has evolved beyond just a platform for active youth to meet, becoming a new model of 21st-century diplomacy where the voices of the younger generation, who are shaping the future, are heard.

The Turkmen delegation will include representatives from the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs, as well as students from leading universities in the country. Delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives from the United Nations, international donors, and partner organizations, are also expected to participate.

Interest from other countries and international organizations indicates that the Central Asian Youth Dialogue platform has surpassed its regional boundaries, garnering attention as an effective model of youth diplomacy that aims to promote peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development globally.

Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan continues to spearhead initiatives for establishing unique platforms for youth cooperation. The forum will allow participants to present current projects, discuss topics such as the development of a culture of peace, sustainable education, social entrepreneurship, and preparations for the next youth forum within the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) in August 2025.

The forum is expected to result in the expansion of youth cooperation networks in Central Asia, the establishment of mechanisms for sustainable cooperation, the development of concrete proposals for LLDC3, and efforts to enhance the role of youth on the global stage.

This event marks another milestone in Turkmenistan’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation among the youth of Central Asia, paving the way for a more peaceful and inclusive future.
