Turkmenistan and Georgia Strengthen Bilateral Relations Through High-Level Negotiations
On March 7, 2025, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobahidze engaged in high-level negotiations during the official visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Turkmenistan.
President Berdimuhamedov warmly welcomed Prime Minister Kobahidze, highlighting Georgia as a friend and reliable partner of Turkmenistan. The President expressed optimism that the visit would enhance bilateral cooperation and bring new opportunities for collaboration.
The longstanding friendly and constructive relationship between Turkmenistan and Georgia, based on equality and mutual respect, was reiterated during the discussions. Both countries have made significant progress in trade, economics, energy, industry, and healthcare cooperation.
Transport and logistics, particularly projects like the Black Sea – Caspian Sea and Lazuli Corridor, were identified as key areas for further collaboration. Turkmenistan expressed interest in the development of “Green Ports” and emphasized the potential for enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
President Berdimuhamedov also appreciated Georgia’s support for Turkmenistan’s peace initiatives, including the declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”. A representative forum is scheduled to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze reciprocated the warm sentiments and expressed Georgia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Turkmenistan. Both leaders highlighted the positive trajectory of political and economic relations and discussed the signing of several bilateral agreements to bolster cooperation.
The negotiations concluded with well wishes exchanged between President Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Kobahidze, underscoring the mutual interest in advancing their partnership.
In addition to the official talks, delegations from Turkmenistan and Georgia engaged in discussions on various areas of mutual interest and signed several agreements, including cooperation programs in foreign affairs, customs, plant protection, and sports.
A cultural program was organized to further enhance people-to-people ties between the two nations, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Turkmenistan.
As Prime Minister Kobahidze concluded his visit to Turkmenistan, both countries expressed their commitment to deepening their multifaceted partnership on equal and mutually beneficial terms. The successful negotiations and agreements signed during the visit signify a new chapter in Turkmen-Georgian relations, marked by cooperation and friendship.
