Turkmenistan President Attends XVI BRICS Summit In Outreach Format
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan recently participated in the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, in the BRICS Plus/Outreach format. This historic event took place on October 24, 2024, during his working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan.
The summit gathered heads of delegations from over 30 countries, along with representatives from international organizations such as the UN, SCO, and CIS. The theme of the summit, “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security,” set the stage for productive discussions and initiatives.
President Berdimuhamedov highlighted Turkmenistan’s role in promoting cooperation, mutual respect, and peacekeeping. He emphasized the country’s neutral status and its efforts to establish global and regional security through dialogue and trust. Initiatives such as the Global Framework for Transition to Circular Economy and the Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity demonstrate Turkmenistan’s proactive approach to global issues.

As the two-day working visit came to a close, President Berdimuhamedov met with Turkmen students studying in the Republic of Tatarstan. The students were presented with a special poetry collection in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, a renowned Turkmen poet.
