
Turkmenistan Strives to Combat Human Trafficking

Turkmenistan is taking a proactive approach in the fight against human trafficking with the presentation of the National Action Plan for 2025-2029. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the event on March 13, 2025, where the plan was officially introduced to members of the Interdepartmental Commission and representatives of international organizations.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmet Gurbanov, highlighted the importance of the new plan, which was developed in collaboration with key international organizations such as the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan, Begmurat Muhamedov, outlined the five sections of the plan, detailing target measures, deadlines, and responsibilities of relevant state agencies.
The main goal of the National Action Plan is to strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms in Turkmenistan, fulfill international obligations, and enhance cooperation with international partners in addressing human trafficking. The document also focuses on preventing threats on a national level.
Participants at the presentation discussed the tasks and strategic directions outlined in the plan, emphasizing the importance of practical implementation. This initiative reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to combatting human trafficking and protecting vulnerable populations.
