Turkmenistan Presents Successful Experience in Countering Pandemic at UN Forum
The delegation of Turkmenistan, led by Minister of Finance and Economy Serdar Jorayev, recently presented the country’s second Voluntary National Review on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at a High-level Forum held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The report highlighted Turkmenistan’s effective measures in tackling the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the challenging circumstances, the country not only managed to sustain its economic growth rates but also witnessed an increase in its macroeconomic indicators, as stated in the document.
In addition to addressing the reporting goals, the review incorporated six additional Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on quality and inclusive education, healthcare, food security, human well-being improvement, gender equality, and environmental protection.
Moreover, the delegation shed light on the ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional framework for the efficient implementation of the SDGs. They also presented an evaluation of strategic policy documents aimed at integrating the SDGs comprehensively.
The report emphasized that Turkmenistan has achieved an impressive 85% level of incorporating the objectives of the 2030 Agenda into national programs, strategies, and action plans. This commitment has ensured the continuous implementation of the SDGs in both completed and newly adopted country programs.
Following the completion of the report, the participants had the opportunity to inquire about the topics presented and provide comments to the Turkmenistan delegation.
Turkmenistan’s successful experience in countering the pandemic and its dedication to sustainable development goals serve as a testament to the country’s commitment to economic growth and societal well-being. The presentation at the UN forum provides valuable insights for other nations seeking to tackle similar challenges and achieve sustainable development.
