“Turkmenistan to Join TRACECA in Fall 2023”
Turkmenistan is considering joining the TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) program this fall, according to Aset Asavbayev, Secretary-General of the permanent secretariat of the intergovernmental commission of the program. TRACECA aims to connect the transport communications of countries to form reliable supply chains for goods from Central Asia to Europe and vice versa. Asavbayev believes that Turkmenistan, upon joining TRACECA, will be able to accelerate the development of its transport sector and digitalization of freight transportation and gain simplified access to 13 TRACECA member countries. Additionally, TRACECA’s coordinated actions will allow new opportunities for the development of transport in Central Asian countries.
