Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council Holds Second Meeting at Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The second meeting of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on July 16, 2024.
During the meeting, the agenda included discussions on the outcomes of the visit of the UN Secretary General to Turkmenistan, as well as deliberations on the Action Plan both in Turkmenistan and internationally for the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution “International Year of Peace and Trust, 2025”.
The participants of the meeting highlighted the importance of the visit of the UN Secretary General in strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations. They agreed that the achieved results will enhance the collaboration and provide a new momentum, considering the current global context.
It was also pointed out that the resolution 78/266 on the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust was adopted by consensus at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly on 21 March 2024, at the initiative of Turkmenistan. This highlights the significance of ongoing efforts to promote a culture of peaceful dialogue in the international community.
Furthermore, the adoption of the resolution “International Year of Peace and Trust, 2025” by the UN General Assembly was seen as a platform for joint endeavors to facilitate the resolution of emerging conflict situations through peaceful, political, and diplomatic means, as well as to strengthen trust-based relationships among nations.
Overall, the second meeting of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council underscored the commitment of both parties towards advancing peace and trust on a global scale.
