Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Honors Belgium’s King’s Oath Day
Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, recently participated in the festive celebrations honoring the National Holiday of Belgium – the Day of the Oath of the King. The event was held to commemorate King Philippe’s reign in Belgium.
President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, extended his warm congratulations and best wishes to King Philippe and the people of Belgium on this special occasion.
The day kicked off with the traditional Te Deum service, a religious thanksgiving ceremony held at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels. King Philip and Queen Mathilde, along with other distinguished guests, including the royal couple Albert and Paola, attended the service. The gathering was a joyful celebration of King Philip’s ten-year reign as the monarch of Belgium since he ascended to the throne in July 2013, following the abdication of his father, Albert II.
Ambassador Palvanov was also invited to an official reception, where he had the opportunity to discuss various issues of cooperation with Belgian Foreign Minister Haja Lahbib and other high-ranking officials, such as Deputy Prime Minister Petra De Satter, Senate President Stephanie D’osse, Speaker of the House of Representatives Elian Thiye, and Energy Minister Tinne Van der Streten.
The highlight of the day was a grand military and civil parade held on the Palace Square. The entire royal family of Belgium, along with Prime Minister Alexander De Croo representing the federal government, attended the event.
The Day of the King’s Oath is Belgium’s primary official holiday. It commemorates the historic moment in 1831 when the first king, Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, took his oath and pledged to be the guardian of the constitution of the newly-formed European state.
The presence of Ambassador Sapar Palvanov at these celebratory events highlights the growing cooperation and diplomatic ties between Turkmenistan and Belgium.
