Turkmenistan’s National Fairy Tales Translated into Foreign Languages
Specialists from the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi are making efforts to translate Turkmen folk tales into various foreign languages. This initiative, reported by the electronic newspaper of the IIC of Turkmenistan, aims to promote Turkmen culture and foster cultural exchange.
The Turkmen State Publishing Service has already released three collections of translated folk tales: “The World of Fairy Tales,” “Once Upon a Time…,” and “The Fruit of Friendship.” These collections are readily available in local bookstores and serve as unique souvenirs for foreign visitors interested in Turkmen folklore. Each book is adorned with vibrant illustrations that bring the rich world of Turkmen legends to life.
Translators are meticulous in preserving the original essence of the tales while making necessary adaptations for international readers. The stories have been translated into languages such as Russian, English, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, German, and French. This multilingual approach not only facilitates cross-cultural communication but also fosters stronger ties between nations, aligning with the theme of the year 2025 – “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
This initiative not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of Turkmenistan but also promotes understanding and cooperation among diverse communities. Through the universal language of storytelling, these folk tales transcend linguistic barriers and unite people from different backgrounds.
