Turkmenistan’s President Appoints EU’s Top Representative
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recently welcomed the Supreme Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission, Mrs. Kau Kallas, on March 27, 2025. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss priority areas of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU.
During the meeting, Mrs. Kallas expressed her appreciation for the progress made by Turkmenistan in various fields and was particularly impressed by the architectural beauty of the capital city, Ashgabat. President Berdimuhamedov, in turn, welcomed Mrs. Kallas and highlighted her participation in the upcoming meeting of foreign policy department heads from Central Asia and the European Union, expressing confidence in the positive outcomes of the discussions.
Both parties acknowledged the importance of cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. The focus was also placed on partnership within the Central Asia-European Union framework, with plans for the first “Central Asia-European Union” summit in Uzbekistan to enhance long-term partnerships in the region.
Discussions also touched upon collaboration in socio-economic development, including large-scale transport projects within the Eurasian space. President Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to expanding dialogue with the European Union and praised the level of cooperation achieved thus far.
As the meeting concluded, both leaders expressed confidence in the continued success of their cooperation and exchanged best wishes for the future. The dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union continues to strengthen, paving the way for further mutually beneficial partnerships.
