Turkmenistan’s President hosts Uzbekistan’s Foreign Affairs Minister
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recently received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, on November 1, 2023. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the friendly dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov conveyed heartfelt greetings and wishes for good health and prosperity from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan values its friendly relations with Turkmenistan.
In response, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended return greetings to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, highlighting the unwavering commitment of Turkmenistan to trust and good neighborly relations with Uzbekistan, which have a long history.
During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov mentioned the recent meeting with the OSCE Secretary General and highlighted the importance of developing long-term and effective interaction with this organization.
Furthermore, the President emphasized that the participation of Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in the “Central Asia-Republic of Korea” Forum would provide an opportunity to enhance cooperation in various fields and discuss current regional and international politics. It was expressed with confidence that the visit would contribute significantly to strengthening the relations between the two countries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also wished the Uzbek side success in hosting the upcoming 16th ECO Summit in Tashkent.
The meeting also touched upon the close positions of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on regional and global issues, particularly in relation to global peace and security and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. Both countries have been actively collaborating in international and regional structures, including the United Nations.
In terms of trade and economic relations, the positive dynamics of bilateral trade turnover were highlighted, along with active cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and logistics, agricultural, and other sectors.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of cultural, scientific, and educational cooperation between the two countries. These areas serve as a bridge for closer ties and friendship between the two nations.
