Two Children Found Drowned in Zarafshan River
Tragedy Strikes Pakhtachi District as Three Children Drown in Zarafshan River
On May 25, the Pakhtachi district of Samarkand region was struck by a tragic incident as three children drowned in the Zarafshan River due to their carelessness. The children were born in 2009 and were 7th-grade students of school No. 13 in the Pakhtachi district.
According to the press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, one of the bodies was recovered from the water the following day, while the bodies of the other two children were also found shortly thereafter.
Search operations were conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Internal Affairs staff to locate the children. The search for the remaining two children was ongoing at the time of writing.
The exact circumstances leading up to the drowning have not been disclosed, but it is a stark reminder of the dangers of swimming in open waters and the importance of taking caution when doing so.
