Two More Bodies Found in Avalanche Tragedy in Kyrgyzstan
In a tragic development in the Chatkal district of Jalal-Abad region in Kyrgyzstan, the bodies of two more people trapped under an avalanche have been discovered. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that this discovery was made at 10:30 a.m. during search operations conducted early in the morning.
The incident dates back to October 9 when a group of 14 people went missing in Chatkal after going to the mountains to collect herbs. Communication was lost with the group, prompting their relatives to seek help from rescuers. While eight people were found, six remained missing.
Local residents reported that an avalanche occurred in the Ak-Sai mountains area on October 14. Following this, an Emergencies Ministry helicopter was deployed for search efforts on October 18.
By October 18, the bodies of three missing individuals were located and airlifted by helicopter to the headquarters in Kumbel district. Prior to this, the body of a 46-year-old man was also discovered. The search operations were conducted under the direct supervision of the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Boobek Azhikeev.
This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of venturing into remote mountain areas, especially during unpredictable weather conditions. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
