Two Police Officers Injured During Intervention in the Capital

Protests in Ankara against corruption and terrorism investigations

A group of individuals gathered in front of the Municipality of Çankaya in Ankara to protest against corruption and terrorist investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

The protest was attended by Hometown Party Chairman Muharrem Ince, who addressed the crowd with a speech. However, after Ince left the area, some demonstrators attempted to break through the police barricade on Ziya Gökalp Street and clashed with the police.

Despite warnings from the police, the group refused to disperse and began throwing fireworks, stones, and glass bottles at the police officers. Two police officers were injured in the clashes.

In response, the police used pepper spray and pressurized water to disperse the demonstrators. Some protesters scattered to side streets but tried to regroup later, only to be stopped by the police.

A total of 44 people were detained during the protests, and municipal teams worked to clean up the trash left behind by the demonstrators.

Ankara Police Chief Engin Dinç arrived at the scene to assess the situation and gather information on the events that transpired. The situation remains tense as authorities work to restore order and ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
