Uber Launches in Budapest Following Successful Acquisition of Necessary Permits
Uber’s return to Budapest marks a significant milestone in the company’s tumultuous journey in the Hungarian capital. According to a report by portfolio.hu, Uber received approval from the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) and the National Transport Authority on 16 April. This milestone signals the beginning of Uber’s official clearance process and sets the stage for the service’s scheduled relaunch in early summer. Driver recruitment is expected to kick off in the coming days, with Uber and its local partner, F Mobilitás Ltd, aiming to onboard over 1,000 drivers in Budapest.
Eszter Kardos, CEO of Uber Hungary, and Ádám Reich, CEO of F Mobilitás Ltd, highlighted the high demand for Uber’s services in Budapest and emphasized the company’s commitment to maximizing earnings potential for drivers. Reich also outlined Uber’s plans to introduce a bonus system for drivers and initiate driver registration on the uber.com website.
The arrival of Uber in Budapest comes with a range of enticing incentives for both drivers and passengers. Uber’s strategy includes forging partnerships with local authorities and taxi firms, a model that has proven successful in several cities worldwide. Furthermore, passengers in Budapest will access Uber’s familiar global app for booking rides, while F Mobilitás will handle dispatch services for seamless ride bookings via telephone.
