Ukrainian Intelligence Enhances Magura Naval Drones After Successful Air Strikes
Ukrainian intelligence is taking significant steps to enhance its Magura naval drones, following a successful operation that resulted in the destruction of two Russian fighter jets over the Black Sea. Yevhen Yerin, a representative from the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, announced these advancements during a live national telethon, as reported by RBC-Ukraine.
Yerin urged Russian forces to "get ready" and "stay alert" in light of the recent developments. He emphasized that the successful strikes using the Magura drones illustrate the effectiveness of the tactics employed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The upgrades to the Magura drones reflect a transition from standalone units to a comprehensive line of multifunctional naval systems. These drones are now being utilized in various combat scenarios and are continually evolving. Yerin highlighted that the Magura family has expanded to include multiple adaptations designed for diverse operational needs.
He stated, "There is more to come — progress is ongoing and relentless. The enemy must be prepared and remain on alert, because it will be Ukrainians and their allies who dominate the Black Sea, not the Russians."
Recently, Ukrainian forces successfully shot down two Russian Su-30 fighter jets over the Black Sea, marking a significant achievement in aerial combat capabilities. According to Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Defense Intelligence, the operation utilized three Magura V7 unmanned surface vessels to execute the strikes.
On May 2, one of the Russian Su-30 jets was downed near Novorossiysk. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirmed the loss of two Russian aircraft, affirming the growing effectiveness of Ukraine’s military strategy in the ongoing conflict.
With these advancements, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are not only bolstering their operational capabilities but also sending a clear message to their adversaries about their readiness and technological prowess in maritime warfare.
